2004 CONTEST

Wanted: contest catchers, judges

We want you! Judging is Feb. 19-23 in Torrance, Calif., and the call is out for catchers and judges. If you're interested in pitching in, please contact Celeste Williams at 817-390-7697 or by e-mail at cxwilliams@star-telegram.com.

Some things to remember: the first mandatory dates are Tuesday, Jan. 27, and Sunday, April 4. The final mandatory dates will be posted on the APSE Web site by Jan. 1, 2005. All contest entries must be mailed to the designated catchers and postmarked by Tuesday, Jan. 25.

The executive committee meeting is at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19. At that meeting, contest judging groups will be announced and an opening-night cocktail hour will follow the meeting. Judging begins Sunday morning, Feb. 20, through Wednesday, Feb. 23, at the Torrance Marriott. The hotel room rate is $139, single or double. Judges from smaller newspapers might want to double up to reduce the daily cost to $70, plus tax.

Look for more information on the contest in the December newsletter.
