A federal judge Tuesday rejected an appeal to keep the 138-year-old Tucson Citizen open as a print newspaper.
"While regrettable that the Citizen's illustrious legacy must come to end, it can not be said at this time, the decision to close the Citizen involves an anti-trust violation," U.S. District Judge Raner Collins wrote.
Gannett is expected to continue the Web site, with no breaking news or sports news – just opinion. That will leave two full-time employees in the newsroom instead of 65.
