Josh Barnett of the Philadelphia Daily News is the new vice chair of the Mid-Atlantic Region.

Barnett, 37, became executive sports editor of the Daily News in June 2008. He had been sports editor of the Daily News since 2004, following five years on the paper's copy desk. He's also worked in Syracuse, Glen Falls and Utica.

A graduate of Syracuse University, Barnett replaces Judy Connelly of the Scranton Times and Tribune. Connelly, the sports editor in Scranton, is the region's new chair.

The two editors are beginning two-year terms. Barnett becomes region chair in 2011.
